We’ve always known that TVA is a terrific place to work. Now it’s official: TVA has been recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the best large employers in America.

You’ll find all of those things—and more—right here at TVA, which was named in 2017 as one of Forbes magazine’s best large employers to work for.

Forbes relied on statistics firm Statista to interview 30,000 people from 1,800 companies across the country and arrive at a list of the 500 best large companies to work for. To devise its rankings, Statista asked responders for qualitative data, such as their willingness to recommend their employer, and to rate on a scale of 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree) statements such as the following:

• A good performance at work is recognized and praised.
• My employer encourages me to take the initiative and develop new ideas.
• I am satisfied with my working hours.
• I can organize my own work.
• The company pays a good wage/salary.
• Men and women have the same opportunities for advancement.
• I like the way my employer handles ethnic diversity.
• The company is environmentally responsible.
• There is a climate of fairness and trust.
• My current work is interesting.       
• My employer offers a healthcare plan.
• My employer is doing well financially.

TVA made the cut, and indeed scored well—coming in at 280 for it’s strong focus on three areas of service: energy, environmental stewardship and economic development.
