Proposed Permanent Easement Request on Fontana Reservoir

TVA is considering a request for a permanent easement over approximately 5.3 acres (35°25’18”N,  83°27’38”W) on Fontana Reservoir at Little Tennessee River Mile 11.6 (left bank), in Swain County, North Carolina.  The Town of Bryson City has requested the permanent easement to expand its wastewater treatment plant to meet permit requirements and future needs. TVA is seeking public comment prior to a final decision on the easement request.

TVA is interested in receiving comments regarding the action’s potential to affect the environment or historic properties, and to identify any other issues associated with this request prior to granting an easement. Any comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the administrative record and will be available for public inspection. All written comments on this proposed action must be received on or before October 5, 2023. Written comments may be mailed or emailed to the addresses below.

As required by TVA’s NEPA Procedures,  TVA has also posted a Floodplains No Practicable Alternative Public Notice on its Floodplains and Wetlands Public Notice website at tva.com/environment/environmental-stewardship/floodplain-and-wetland-public-notices and is interested in receiving comments regarding the action’s potential to specifically affect floodplains.
