Building Tomorrow Together

What an American-made energy future looks like

Dams and locks. Reservoirs and powerhouses. Cooling towers and transmission towers. You can see them from highways and waterways across seven states.

All the infrastructure TVA built over the years is like a lightbulb – its usefulness comes not from seeing it, but from what you can see by it. For more than 91 years, TVA has worked to make life better across the Valley region, and today TVA and its partners are working to cast the light even further, envisioning the future of American energy.

To build tomorrow together.

“It’s happening right here in the Tennessee Valley region,” Jeff Lyash, TVA President and CEO, said recently. “Working together, we will continue to define what an American-made energy future looks like.”

That’s a future of progress and growth. As the region’s population expands, it relies on new technologies for work and play, industry and recreation.

Powering such economic growth while protecting the environment requires diverse sources of energy, from hydro to gas, nuclear to solar. And TVA is poised to lead through innovation, as it has since the 1930s, for the benefit of all.

While TVA maintains a clean and diverse energy system, it is driving forward to a cleaner and more secure energy future for the region. This includes working in partnership to grow solar generation, building battery storage, enhancing existing hydropower and focusing on advanced nuclear energy development.

It also means making efficient use of existing energy sources. In partnership with local power companies, TVA has launched energy efficiency initiatives and demand response programs that will help offset projected load growth over the next decade and lower energy bills.

And energy security means pressing toward development of advanced technologies in nuclear generation. TVA is working with scientific partners across the nation to develop new energy sources that would have seemed like science fiction not long ago.

In each of those diverse aims – economic growth, environmental responsibility, and energy that is affordable, reliable and resilient – the common thread is partnership.

Public partnerships and private. Local power companies, conservation agencies and business developers. And neighbors who care.

Together, TVA and its partners can shine a light on the future of American energy.

And build a better tomorrow.
